RECENT Projects
Well into the third year of business, we have had the opportunity to work with many of the wonderful citizens of Bonavista and clients from all over Canada who have decided to buy their own piece of coastline real estate!
We are always eager to keep an open line of communication so that our clients are satisfied with the project at hand.
The Gordon Restoration
The Gordon restoration projects was completed in the summer of 2023.
What started as a simple cladding upgrade to this registered heritage house turned into a much bigger project. In the early stages of this project our crew noticed that there were foundation issues. We consulted with the owners and ended up excavating and adding concrete piers to support the home.
We are currently working with these clients to plan a full interior renovation to begin in the fall of 2024!
The Durdle Restoration
The Durdle restoration projects was completed in the summer of 2023.
We added a two story addition to the back of this heritage home, completed many structural upgrades to the existing building and finished the exterior with all new wooden windows, wood siding and new shingles.
The Anchorage Restaurant
The Anchorage Restaurant and Bar is an ongoing project. This commercial redevelopment is one of our biggest projects to date, our clients plan to transform this space into a high end restaurant and bar.
Over the fall/winter of 2021 we worked with them to complete the new blueprints and get all the required government approvals. With a firm plan in place we began the first phase of renovations in the summer of 2022.
Phase one was an extensive exterior upgrade, removing the old weathered siding, moving the windows to suit the new layout and installing new wood siding with custom built window trims to give this building a clean modern vibe while keeping with the traditional architecture of the Bonavista area.
Electrical work is currently underway with interior renovations following that, stay tuned for further updates on this exciting addition to Bonavista’s fine dining scene!
The Major Addition
The Major Addition project was completed in the summer of 2022.
These clients have been working to turn this house into their future retirement home. With the plan to move to Newfoundland from Ontario fast approaching they came to us to help expedite the process.
We added a 12×16 addition housing a porch, laundry room and craft room. We also gave the exterior of the home a fresh new look, installing new vinyl siding.
The Tremblett Restoration
The Tremblett Restoration is an ongoing project. This heritage home is a major project in our portfolio and one that we are very proud of.
The Tremblett house is a well known building to the local residents of Bonavista. Being the former home of the late “Honest John” who was a major political figure representing Bonavista Bay in the House of Assembly from 1913 to 1923, it has significant historical value.
In the summer of 2021 we were approached by the current owners who had a vision to restore the home to its former glory. The home had been vacant and in a state of disrepair for almost 30 years prior to the start of renovations in August of 2021.
The first step was to replace the entire roof of the home to ensure it was not subjected to any further damage over the winter while we moved through the design and planning phase with our clients. Once that was complete we emptied the house of its contents, opened the interior up to its framing and evaluated the structure. From there it was determined that all 3 floors of the home would need to be rebuilt.
In the summer of 2022 we rebuilt all 3 floors, installed all new windows, doors and wood siding. The exterior of the house is now fully restored and we will be proceeding with interior finishes throughout the winter of 2023. Stay tuned for updates!
The Hynes Renovation
The Hynes Renovation project was started in the winter of 2021 and completed in the summer of 2022. The owners of this property purchased it from out of the province in the midst of the pandemic which meant they were only able to view pictures of the property prior to purchasing it.
They came to us after the sale closed to do an evaluation of the home. The house had been partially renovated by the previous owners but the new owners had a different vision for the space. We worked with them to design a new floor plan and establish a construction budget they were comfortable with. All while being on opposite ends of the country.
The home was stripped back to the framing, all structural issues repaired, all new electrical and plumbing installed and drywall put back on. We converted the attic storage space into a “bunk room” for guests and added a functional set of stairs to access it. The owner selected beautiful finishes, with a modern kitchen sourced locally from Sunset Kitchen and Bath. Our crew built a shiplap fireplace surround with a custom oak mantel and installed ceramic floor and wall tile in the bathroom.
Outside we peeled back the vinyl siding to uncover the original wood siding, installed all new windows and doors and finished it off with a bright blue coat of paint.
The Anderson Flip
The Anderson Flip project was the first property purchased by Red Point and was completely renovated over the summer/fall of 2021 and sold after just 3 days on the market!
Inside we changed the entire layout, framed all new interior walls, leveled and rebuilt the floors, vaulted the ceiling in the master bedroom, added an ensuite and walk-in closet, had our talented sub trades install all new electrical, plumbing and kitchen cabinets and then finished it off with new flooring, trims, and a custom staircase.
Outside we installed all new windows, doors, siding and shingles. Build a new second story patio off the master bedroom to enjoy the ocean view and a wrap around ground level deck. Built on a new front porch, and fixed up the landscaping.
The Abbott Garage
The Abbott garage project was completed in the Fall of 2021. It is a 24×24 new garage with a bonus room built into the attic. Our crew completed the framing, roofing, siding and window/door installs on this project.
